Zvazda's INN #1

I think I play the sensory deprivation over think twice, but maybe I'm insane for that?

R1G1 - I lost this game to a village bell ringer that countered my claustrophobia and a rally the peasants that got cast and flashbacked in the same turn.  Turns out +4+0 is a lot.

R1G2 - This game was looking pretty well in hand with a Turn 2 Grimgrin... but then slayer of the wicked made our day pretty sad and lands off the top didn't help at all.

R2G1 - A turn 2 Lilliana let us dominate, making him discard his whole hand and putting him in topdeck mode and making him sacrifice creatures.  He psuedo stabilized with a doomed traveler, but corpse lunging his final blocker out of the way and crashing in with the red version of our looter gave us the win.

R3G1 - Got lost, but we won.

Thanks for the comments, guys!

  1. P1P2: Lunge CANNOT be the right pick here! I think you should take the Rig if you want to stay Black, otherwise, take the Bell-ringer (or perhaps the Pitchburn Devils). You might wheel the Lunge even out of a pack like this, it's really bad removal.

P1P5: I actually like Rats here - Lots of people don't pick Skaabs high enough.

P1P6: Here the pick should be Skaab, though, I think.

    P1P7: Curiosity.

P1P9: I agree completely with this pack (also; See what I said about Skaab!)

    P1P14: Nice!

P2P1: Hmmm. Sturmgeist is probably right but Stalker is pretty close this early.

P2P2: CROWS CROWS CROWS and don't you ever forget.

P2P4: You don't look aggressive enough for this. I think I might take the Unburial Rites instead, it's wicked and good if you end up in B/G splashing White for flashback.

P2P6: What reasons? I pick the Viper.

P2P7: I like the Rats here.

P2P12: Cut the Grudge here, I think.

    P3P2: Silent Departure!

    P3P3: Woah.

    P3P4: Yes, you should.

P3P6: What is this still doing here? Snap pick!

P3P7: Manor Skeleton seems to be more like something you'd want.

P3P9: You aren't wrong, the Patrician is really good. Especially since you have plenty of ways to get guys in the yard already and seem somewhat controlly to me.

P3P12: I take the Assistant here, I think.

  2. P1P1 – I thought it was hilarious that both of us opened Liliana in our first Innistrad drafts. In any case, she is awesome.
P1P2- I take the Geistcatcher’s Rig here. Corpse Lunge has a lot of problems keeping it from being strong removal. Sometimes it is pretty good, but a lot of times it just isn’t. Geistcatcher’s Rig, however, is just awesome.
P1P5 – Agreed. Take the Skaab.
P1P6 – Again, Take the Skaab.
P1P7 – Here, I take the Stromkirk Patrol. I tend to pick creatures over just about anything with only a marginal impact on the game.
P1P8 – I pick the Prey Upon here. Travel Preparations is really good, but the Prey Upon is better in BG.
P1P9 – I think I would have taken the Skaab here, but mainly because you don’t have any yet. But taking this guy is fine if you already have two Skaabs.
P2P2 – This is kind of a close pick, but definitely should be the Crows.
P2P5 – I take the Rites, and consider splashing white.
    P3P2 – I take the Silent Departure.
P3P4 – Again, your hindsight is pretty perfect, and the Goliath has to be the right pick.
P3P12 – I take the Deranged Assistant here, but they are both filling sort of the same types of roles. But the Assistant has been nothing but awesome for me.
