This deck 1-2'd in the swiss queue.

  1. P1P3 - Yeah, not the best pick. If I wanted to stay red I take the hound or the rage thrower (probably the hound. 2 drops are valuable and he's a good one, especially on defense). But I just take the claustrophobia.
    P1P4 - Geistcatcher's Rig!
P1P5 - Yeah, You're gonna have an awesome pack 2 (probably) but your hindsight is 20/20. I take the silent departure here and think about the moan.
P1P6 - I don't love the pariah (2 and 4 toughness both die pretty easily) so I think the mauler is still the pick.
    P1P7 - I liked your second pick!!!
P1P9 - I consider the quarter sideboard material at best. Terrors or Brain Weevil or Ranger's Guile. It also doesn't hurt to keep cutting red at this point.
P1P10 - Take the bat! That guy is really good.
P1P13 - Take the ghoulraiser in case you end up in Black.
P2P3 - I like the Bond of Faith or the Kessig Wolf here.
P2P4 - I would have, especially since I have the bonds of faith from earlier :).
    P2P5 - yup!
P2P6 - I would take the hound. He seems more consistent, but I'm not sure about this.
P2P7 - Maybe. Depends on your creature count.
P2P11 - No. Cathar is best card.
P3P1 - Do you have any green cards going into this pack? I think I take the scourge or the devils and am happy. Probably the scourge. Better for reaching dragon.
P3P2 - Even in werewolves I don't think this card is playable. Dead Weight! Dead Weight!
P3P4 - I take the restless waif here!
P3P5 - I take the moan of the unhallowed here.
    P3P11 - I like the Hound better.

  2. Match 1 Game 1: played a decent R/G deck and after mulling to four, and only seeing a couple lands until too late, he just ran me over after turn 4-5. Lose.

Match 1 Game 2: Nearly the same thing happened (without the mull), didn't see my third land 'til turn 7. Lose.

Match 2 Game 1: Against a clan member playing G/W with several fliers. My little aggro plan was working fairly well until he stabilized on turn 6 and I never caught back up. Lose.

Match 2 Game 2: No plays until turn four (bad mana) and I was almost holding him off, but never did stabilize and his fliers were too much for me. Lose.

Match 3: My would be opponent apparently dropped and I got a Bye. Technically a win.

I have an unfortunate pattern in my drafts where I usually go 0-3 in the Swiss drafts, so I'm hoping that with some help from the community I can polish my skills to start doing a bit better. I seem to have trouble with card evaluations and still make several mistakes in my game play. Please help me with your comments.

    Thanks,

    Kevin (knrhenry)

  3. P1P3: There are better Red cards in this pack - the Hound is pretty good if you want to stay Red.

P1P4: For cutting purposes this is decent, but the Rig is better.

P1P5: This is where you have to consider signals... There are two great uncommons still in the pack; Perhaps Blue or Black is the way to go?

    P1P10: Bat is also black...?

P2P3: Kessig Wolf is fine in your deck; 3 power for 3 mana is really good and you have the removal to back it up.

P2P4: I think I take Dearly Departed here even if it's just hatedrafting.

    P2P7: Yep, Rats.

P3P1: Eeek, there's a Red Rare (I haven't played a lot with it but it seems okay in your deck) and a great common in Pitchburn Devils here. You're probably not playing Mayor.

P3P2: Dead Weight and Rolling Temblor are both here...

    P3P3: Foil Banshee!

P3P4: There's lots of playables here... Patrician is fine, per example.

P3P5: Nope. There's an Interloper and a Moan of the Unhallowed here for you. Probably the Moan.

P3P11: Agree with Zach here, the Hound is better.

As for general help: The episode with the rundown of Innistrad cards is great, and there's a nice Limited forum on WotC where people evaluate cards, simulate drafts with community decisions, etc. Try looking there!
And you can always ask in the Clan chat, of course :)
